Family Agreement for Au Pair/Demi pair Placement

The Host Family agrees to:

  • Provide suitable accommodation for the AU pair, neat and tidy, including a private bedroom and access to necessary amenities.

  • Provide the AU pair with meals (7 days, 3 times)

  • Provide a clear schedule outlining the agreed-upon working hours, days off, childcare tasks/household chores, and any additional expectations to settle in easily and quickly.

  • Help your Aupair understand the provided Working Schedule.

  • Maintain open communication with the AU pair and the Agency regarding any concerns or issues that may arise.

  • Abide by the rules and regulations of the AU pair program, including compliance with legal and contractual obligations.

  • Provide the Agency with detailed information regarding their family, including household composition, childcare needs, preferences, and any other relevant details.

  • Provide and insure the family car as necessary for fulfilling their duties.

The host family understands :

  • Demi Pair / Aupair is not a professional nanny or housekeeper.  Assume they know nothing!

  • Make the Au pair feel like part of the family. Communicate with them regularly ask and them how their day was and so on.

  • The Aupair shall normally work the following days: Monday to Friday, weekends off. Weekend work must be presented and agreed upon by both parties in advance for approval.

  • The family must provide a maximum of 18 hours a week unpaid for Demipair.

  • Any PUBLIC HOLIDAY must be a day off for the Demi Pair / Aupair unless discussed and agreed by both parties (family and Demi Pair / Aupair) with enough notice to suit both sides.

  • In case the family needs extra hours, that can be offered to the Demi pair as an option ($20 p.h). If it is not suitable for the demi pair, the demi pair has the right to choose to not do it.

  • Keep an eye on demi/au pair hours. It is quite easy for them to go over their hours sure they do not.

  • The odd hour is ok but no more than that.

  • If something is bothering you they are doing-tell it straight away.

  • Resolve the issue first by discussing problems with your au pair/demi pair. If the language is too difficult or you have tried this but not working then drop us an email about the issue.

Termination ;

Either party may terminate this agreement with 14 days notice in writing.

In the event of termination, both parties agree to part ways amicably and to fulfill any outstanding obligations, including compensation and return of belongings.

Please read below and register if your family meets the criteria

1

A family with realistic expectations

A family that understands that Au pairs are travelers seeking a positive experience, and is capable of providing a safe and nurturing environment.

A family that will treat their au pair with respect and as a member of the family, rather than as a slave or maid.

A host family's responsibility to train our Au pair.

2

A family that is kind and caring

The family should be open-minded towards cultural differences and language barriers.

Smile, play, laugh, and love, ensuring that the au pair feels included. Actively engage with the au pair, asking about their weekends, their family, and their life in Japan, demonstrating genuine interest.

While we don't expect you to have time to be their English teacher, they do appreciate it on the odd occasion.

How to succeed with a Japanese Au pair

Be Patient

It may take 1 week to 1 month for your au pair to adjust to your family, schedule, and life in Australia, especially since English is their second language. Speak slowly and check that they understand.

Share the load.

Don’t leave your au pair to clean up alone after dinner. Get your kids involved in tasks like packing away and wiping the table. The au pair is only responsible for light housework, not all of it.

Be positive and have fun!

Remember to say "thank you," praise their efforts, and enjoy a laugh together. A glass of wine is a nice touch!

Show you
CARE. BE KIND.BE FAIR.

Show appreciation to your au pair with small gifts like chocolate or body wash. Treat them like you’d want your child treated abroad. Avoid fighting in front of them, and make sure they feel included—ask about their weekends and life in Japan. Show interest in their experience.

Apply as a family.

Fill out the application form to start the process of finding an au pair.

Once submitted, we’ll review your details and contact you to discuss your needs.

  • Please be sure to provide all requested information and upload photos to help us better understand your preferences.

  • Please note that while au pairs and demi pairs assist families with childcare and light duties, they are also in Australia for a cultural exchange and to improve their English.

If we don’t find an immediate match, we will continue to send candidates until we find the right fit for your family.

Thank you all for your support and patience. We understand language barriers can be challenging, but communication is key.

Your effort and commitment help create a positive experience for both you and your au pair/demi pair. We hope this journey brings growth, learning, and a lasting bond.
